The publication " EU structural Funds for Lithuania" presents only several projects selected from over a thousand projects that have received EU Structural funds assistance. „At present about a half of 3.5 thousand projects have been completed already, others – under implementation. This has been a conclusive proof that we lack neither energy, nor knowledge in preparation and implementation of projects. It is evident that although not each resident or enterprise has been directly involved in EU assistance projects, its benefits would be felt by all, as each project is one more step forward, a contribution to our growing quality of life" says the minister of Finance Zigmantas Balčytis.

Until 2006 Lithuania will be granted EU Structural Funds’ assistance under the Single Programming Document of Lithuania for the period 2004-2006 (hereinafter referred to as the SPD). The SPD sets out Lithuania’s Economic Development Strategy for 2004-2006, singles out priorities, describes their implementation measures, indicates the EU and national co-financing sources and presents the Structural Funds administration system. Under this document, support is given to economic and social infrastructure, human resource, production sector, rural and fisheries development, technical assistance will be provided for EU Structural Funds administration. During the period from 2004 to 2006 over LTL 3 billion from the EU Structural Funds and over LTL 1 billion of national co-financing funds will be allocated for the implementation of the projects falling within the above-mentioned areas, the payments of which will be made to final recipients until 2008.
